Buzz This, Integrate That!

Wednesday, May 19th 2010

Hello again Pingers! How is everyone doing this fine Wednesday? We wanted to do a quick update for you to explain the new stuff we have available for your social networking goodness.

First off, what's all this Google Buzz about? Well we know for sure that we've integrated the latest and greatest Google Buzz service as one of the networks we post to. Yes, the long awaited day has finally come to where you can post directly to Google Buzz from Ping.fm. Thanks to the Google team and the recent API launches at Google I/O. It has all come together very nicely. As they increase their API's functionality, we will be adding additional and more rich features as well. Hop on over to the Google Buzz page and let us know what you think!

And last, but by no means least, we are officially integrated into the ever-growing-in-popularity Seesmic Web client! We've had a swarm of requests for this since our recent Seesmic acquisition and now the day has finally come. This is just a small step in the Seesmic integrations, but a very important one. Soon we will also be integrated in all of the other clients Seesmic offers.

So, there you have it. Keeping it short, sweet and awesome. Keep on the lookout for more news in the near future. We are definitely brewing up some killer stuff.

See you soon!

Adam, Sean and rest of the Seesmic team

Read It, Feed It

Thursday, April 22nd 2010

Hello everyone! We know it's been a bit since you last heard from the Ping.fm team. So this is to help make up for lost time!

First, we want to let you know that everything with the Seesmic merge is going great! We're adapting well and working very hard integrating the products. It's been a tough year so far, but it's all been so worth it! Thanks again to everyone supporting us through the transition. You guys rock!

Now, let's get on to the goodies!

We've added two new features to the Ping.fm line-up; Feeds and Google Reader. We've had these requests sitting on the stove for some time now, and now we've whipped up the feature monster and are giving you access!

With the help from our mates over at Superfeedr, we can now take your RSS, Atom or other variants of feeds and pump them right into your Ping.fm social networks. And the best part about it all; it's real-time! Get your feed content delivered instantly to Ping.fm by just simply adding your feed into the system and poof! Magic.

Cool huh?

Using the same technology, you can also independently add your Google Reader feed (http://ping.fm/reader/) and have your "shared items" post instantly to your networks.

Sweet!

So, go get to feeding! Let us know of any suggestions with the new stuff by visiting our suggestion forum.

Thanks again for your continued support! We plan to really start busting the new features and integrations out like crazy!

Keep on the up and up by following @pingfm and @seesmic on Twitter. In addition, if you're having trouble, you can always voice questions on our help site: http://help.seesmic.com/ or for a quick response, contact us at the official @askseesmic Twitter page.

Cheers!

Adam, Sean and rest of the Seesmic team

Seesmic(ing) Is Believing

Monday, January 4th 2010

The rumors are true! We have been acquired by Seesmic! If you aren't familiar with Seesmic, they are the guys who have created an ensemble of fantastic Twitter apps.

So what does this all mean? Well, a lot! Maybe too much for a single blog. You can definitely expect to see full integration of our services into all Seesmic clients within a few weeks. These clients include Seesmic Desktop (Adobe Air for Windows, OSX and Linux), Web, Android, Blackberry and the brand spankin' new Seesmic for Windows! We will be also improving the core service to provide more requested features and more ridiculous, infinite awesome that you all have been asking for. We are looking forward to joining the Seesmic team in this grand cohesive effort to bring you some real-deal, cutting edge applications.

Never fear! This move in Ping.fm's history is good for everyone. Our service is only going to get better. Joining Seesmic will grant us access to more resources for development and improvement as well as access to a kick-butt customer service team. And, for those of you developing on our API, you should also not worry. We will continue to support and update our API (that has over 100 active apps in production), and there will soon be a plugin architecture for Seesmic Windows and Seesmic Web. So you code smashers will have even more stuff to create!

We are very excited by this announcement, and we hope you are too. We want to give a ton of thanks to everyone involved with the Ping.fm project; including, but absolutely not limited to our investors Joi Ito (@joi), Reid Hoffman (@quixotic) and Mohamed Nanabhay (@mohamed). Additional hats off to Joseph Holst (@jyoseph), Murcom, Frank Boyer and Scott Phillips at Isocentric Networks, Sean Griffin (@seankgriffin) at the Tulsa Collaboratorium, Ryan Merket (@merket) for being such a sly dog, the PDG+creative crew (especially Jared), Ivan Stegic (@ten7), Adam Marshall (@adamkmarshall), Ryan Courtade (@rcourtade) with Evolution Studios, Phillip Roberts (@phillipbroberts), Aaron Babb, all of our vendors and partners, friends and family and most of all, our loyal users. Without you guys, this would have gone nowhere.

Thanks!

Stick around and check out the new stuff that is to come. You can always keep updated on what's going on here, at the Seesmic blog located at http://blog.seesmic.com/, the official Ping.fm Twitter (@pingfm), the Team Seesmic community Twitter (@seesmic) and the Team Seesmic support Twitter (@askseesmic). There is also a Ping.fm feedback forum you can go to and proclaim your most desired new features located here: http://feedback.seesmic.com/.

Cheers everyone!

New Friends, Better Connections

Wednesday, October 14th 2009

Hello again Pingland! We've come back again with some new stuff that you might take kindly to. Gonna keep this short and sweet, so prepare!

We've added two new sites to our arsenal. Everyone welcome Ning and MerchantCircle to the ever-growing list of unstoppable awesomeness.

For those who plan to add Ning, you can currently only add one site connection, but we are researching the best way to provide multiple sites support. This goes along with the other services that people want multiples of too. So, just know it's coming!

Aside from the new adds, we've improved connections with Twitter, Facebook and FriendFeed. We've moved authentication over to OAuth for Twitter and Friendfeed.

For Facebook, we've moved the setup process over to Facebook Connect. You no longer have to add the Ping.fm Facebook app to connect your account and pages.

Awesome!

In lieu of keeping this short, we will leave you with that. We have incredible new stuff coming real soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Until next time,

Adam & Sean

Trackin' Away

Tuesday, September 15th 2009

Some of you have been already informed of our latest feature added to our menagerie of awesome. For those who have not, here it is.

Link stats!

That's right. If you are a fan of our URL shortener, and are familiar with it's antics, you will be glad to know that you can now track incoming statistics on the URLs you generate.

We track all sorts of cool information like link visits, unique visits, referrals and referral country origination. This is all presented to you in a fancy interface that let's you see how well your posted links are tracking with your social network audiences. We think it's pretty rad!

While we gather some feedback from you folks, we will be pondering other statistics you might want to see on your links and adding to the output every so often. You should totally give us a shout and put some bugs in our ears.

This is a user-opt in feature that you can turn on here.

If you're curious for more, you can read all about how this works right over heeeeere!

We have more stuff coming out soon, so keep on the lookout for forests full of unexplainable and ridiculous magic.
